Skylark IX in Stitches!

New, Free Textile Workshop Opens
6pm – 8pm Tuesdays, 12 October to 7 December

Hot on the heels of the popular ‘Make, Do & Mend’ summer sessions, the Skylark IX Recovery Project has launched an exciting new autumn textile workshop for adults living in West Dunbartonshire.

The new ‘Skylark in Stitches!’ workshops are free and will run 6pm – 8pm every Tuesday, from 12 October to 7 December.

During the workshops, participants will explore the theme of ‘a journey’ through stitch, collage and mark making.

Learning and developing techniques with textile artist and historian Suzanne Marshall, they will complete their own personal, textile influenced artwork by the end of the project.

Workshops will take place at Lennox Evangelical Church, Risk Street, Dumbarton.

Jade West, Community Engagement Co-ordinator at the Skylark IX Recovery Project explains:
“Our Make Do and Mend summer sessions were inspired by our ‘Dunkirk Little Ship’ Skylark IX and the wartime culture of reusing, reclaiming and recycling materials. With climate change such a pressing issue today, once again there is a real reason to learn about and enjoy upcycling and reusing old material like many of us have sitting in cupboards at home.

“The summer sessions were hugely popular and showed that people in West Dunbartonshire have a real need and desire for informal learning activities like these which are relevant and bring people together to connect and socialise, in these particularly isolating times.

“We’re thrilled to launch ‘Skylark in Stitches!’ and look forward to seeing what everyone creates as they explore what the notion of ‘journey’ means to them.”

Due to ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, advance booking is required and spaces are limited.
